Discovering Myself After Cancer 🖤
If you're a cancer survivor, or are currently going through treatment, I hope my story inspires you to find your passion too. Whether it's medical tattooing, permanent makeup, or something else entirely, finding something that you're passionate about can help you get through the tough times. And who knows? Maybe you'll even discover a new version of yourself in the process!
Nipple tattooing is a unique type of permanent makeup that involves tattooing pigment onto the nipples to enhance their appearance. The goal of this type of procedure is to boost self-confidence and provide an aesthetically pleasing end result. During the consultation, consultations discuss desired size, placement, and pigment colors that complement the skin as well as assessing scar patterns or scar tissue that may require more technical skill.
Areola tattoos are becoming increasingly popular, with many women opting for this cosmetic procedure to improve the look of their nipples. Areola tattoos are done in the same manner as other tattoos, but they require a specific level of detail to create a natural-looking result.
No one ever expects to hear the words "you have cancer." I certainly didn't. But at age 37, that's exactly what I was told. As a woman, a wife, and a mother, I was terrified. I didn't know how I was going to fight this battle and come out the other side.
But fight I did. And here I am today, cancer-free and more grateful than ever for my life. Being a cancer survivor has given me a unique perspective on this disease—a perspective that I believe can help other women who are facing their own battles with breast cancer.
As a cancer survivor, I understand what other women are going through when they are diagnosed with cancer. I understand the fear, the uncertainty, and the strength it takes to fight. And I want them to know that they are not alone. There are others who have been through it and come out the other side stronger for it.
Your perspective as a survivor can be an invaluable source of strength and hope for someone who is just starting their journey.
The nipple tattoo process begins with a consultation with an experienced tattoo artist. During this consultation, the artist will discuss your desired nipple size, placement and pigment colors that complement your skin type. They will also assess any scar patterns or scar tissue that may require more technical skill to achieve the desired end result.
Once the initial consultation is complete, your tattoo artist will use PMU / Tattoo device to inject pigmentation into the area surrounding your nipple. This is done in small increments until your desired outcome is achieved. Depending on how much color saturation is required and other factors such as skin tone and texture, multiple sessions may be necessary for optimal results.
For first 7 days:
Morning and night. Boil the kettle, allow the water to cool and bathe the areola After bathing the areola apply ointment and cover with food wrap/Cling film/Saranwrap. (this stops the areola drying out)
Do not pick or pull at the colour, it may heal patchy.
On day 7 then apply the cream morning and night for a further 7 days.
If the skin is still a little sore you can place cling film/saran wrap over the tattooing to protect against you clothing.
It is normal to see redness around the skin, however if this lasts more than 24 hours please either contact me or your doctors.
For 14 days: NO swimming, saunas, long showers or baths.
The main difference between a traditional ink tattoo and a cosmetic tattoo is that the pigment used in cosmetic tattoos is less concentrated than that used in regular tattoos. This means that your body will metabolize it quicker, leading to fading over time. This fading can be seen years after getting inked; however, it depends on your metabolism and skin condition so it’s hard to give an exact lifespan for each individual tattoo.
Touch-Ups
If you want to keep your cosmetic tattoo looking fresh for longer periods of time, touch-ups may be necessary every few years. Touch-ups involve re-inking areas where the original color has faded or where new layers of skin have formed over the pigment. This process can help extend the life of your tattoo by keeping it looking vibrant for longer periods of time. Additionally, touch-ups are usually recommended if you want to cover up any unwanted fading or discoloration that may have occurred due to sun exposure or other environmental factors.
